
Skretting Chile organizes conference on freshwater fish farming
The slogan for this version is “Consolidando las Bases” (Consolidating the bases) and it is expected to gather close to 18 well known speakers from Chile and abroad.
Among other speakers, the programme includes presentations from: Gabriel García, general manager of Skretting Chile; Robert Kirschbaum, vice-president of Open Innovation at Royal DSM (Netherlands); Harry King, CSIRO Food Future Flagship (Australia); Nina Santi, R&D manager of Aquagen (Norway); Rodger Miranda, general manager of AquaInnovo (Chile); Aase Aatland, aquaculture research manager of NIVA (Norway); Debes H. Christiansen, head of the National Reference Laboratory for Fish and Animal Diseases, Food and Veterinary Agency (Faroe Islands); Jim Powell, director of Fidelis Aquaculture Management and head of the Freshwater Fisheries Society of British Columbia (Canada); and Catarina Martins, researcher of the Aquaculture & Fisheries Group at the University of Wageningen (Netherlands)/University of the Algarve (Portugal).
The main topics of this conference will be related to challenges in production and genetics, as well as innovation, new production tools, environment and sustainability, water quality, new regulations, nutrition, breeding, health and animal welfare, emerging diseases in freshwater and vaccines, among other issues.
This activity is going to be held on the Hotel Puyehue, located around 180km northwest from Puerto Montt, between 7-9 September, 2011.
