Skretting ARC chairs PD TriNation seminar

The PD Trination initiative was established in 2005 with the aims to integrate and focus the activities of academia and industry from Norway, Ireland, Scotland and more recently other salmon farming regions. This industry led initiative has made major contributions to developing a fuller understanding of PD and related conditions (including CMS and HSMI) by encouraging new and collaborative research, and sharing of results in a transparent manner.

Dr. Charles McGurk, Health R&D Manager of Skretting Aquaculture Research Centre, is the current chairman of PD TriNation. “It is a big investment in time and effort from everyone involved in the initiative but well worth it, says McGurk. “It is enlightening that this had led to a new initiative on gill health employing a similar approach. Together, we need to solve health problems in a collaborative way, and I feel that the PD TriNation has been a great success story.”

Mona Dverdal Jansen of the Norwegian Veterinary Institute has recently taken over as secretary of the Steering Committee which also includes representatives from industry, academic and funding organisations.
