Scottish salmon farmers scoop top awards

Scottish Sea Farms took one of the top honours with the award of Salmon Farming Company of the Year (medium to large), while Wester Ross Fisheries picked up the award for small to medium companies.

Scottish Sea Farms made it a double with the award for Best Export Business.

Marine Harvest (Scotland) won Best Farm for its Loch Hourn site and scooped the prize for Best Community Initiative for its work with the Camanachd Association. The firm added to their tally with the Best Contribution to Sustainability award for initiatives judged to have had a positive impact on the marine environment.

Shetland-based Johnsons Sustainable Seafoods were rewarded for innovation in breaking into new markets with the award for Best Added Value.

Alex Adrian, Deputy Head of The Crown Estate’s Scottish Marine Estate, said: “The Crown Estate is delighted to be able to help celebrate the success of a Scottish industry which leads the way for best practice and innovation.”
