Scottish food & drink fortnight proves major success

Published Modified

The Fortnight brings together food lovers from Scotland and further afield to celebrate the best of the country’s food and drink. Food and drink festivals were held in a range of locations including Loch Lomond, Bute, Dundee and Orkney with support shown by the Scottish Association of Farmers’ Markets. More than 50 markets were held across Scotland during the Fortnight.

The Fortnight also welcomed international support.

In addition, the Fortnight had support from a host of multiple retailers such as Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, smaller retailers including independent delicatessens and farm shops, foodservice outlets including Prestige Scotland, visitor attractions and restaurants.

During the Fortnight, Scots were encouraged to take the 'Eat Scottish Pledge' and pile their plates high with delicious Scottish produce. To spread the word, Scotland Food & Drink launched a Facebook page which provided delicious recipes to give “pledgers” a helping hand with their cooking and attracted over 600 “likers”.
