Scots fisheries secretary to open Fishing, Aquaculture and Seafood Expo'
This will be the 25th anniversary of the expo, which has broadened its scope this year to include all industry sectors including, catching, processing, seafood and aquaculture in recognition of the increasing integration between the various industry sectors. Mr Lochhead said: “I am delighted that the Fishing Seafood and Aquaculture Expo will be held in Glasgow this year, with an expanded focus to fully reflect processors and aquaculture, in addition to the catching sector. I look forward to the opportunity to open the Expo and to meeting with exhibitors and visitors at what I am sure will be an exciting occasion. “The ‘sea to plate’ theme of the Expo chimes well with the Scottish Government’s approach to supporting all aspects of the seafood industry. That’s why we are determined to help the industry add value to what is an iconic Scottish product, all the way throughout the supply chain.” Fran McIntyre, managing director of QD Events, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Cabinet Secretary to ‘Fishing, Aquaculture and Seafood Expo – from Sea to Plate’ and his presence underlines the importance the Scottish Government places on the seafood sector.
“The Fishing, Aquaculture and Seafood Show – from Sea to Plate” will take place from 22 to 24 March 2012 at the SECC, Glasgow, from 10am to 5pm Thursday & Friday, and 10am to 4pm Saturday.
