SalmonEx started online transactions of salmon
Christian Pérez Last week, SalmonEx conducted its first real-time trading session which is the first one related to salmon in Chile. There were ten participants in all, who traded a total of 55,000 lbs. of Trims C, D and E among one another. Arturo Clément, founder of the company, says that this initiative is oriented to add value to the salmon business while creates a market place for the fresh salmon. "We want to create a market transparent and symmetric for all operators with enough liquidity. So, the price will properly represent the spot market for salmon and will allow us to include those values in the SalmonEx Index which will gain in reliability and robustness," he said. What does it mean for you to be pioneers in the implementation of this trading system in the Chilean salmon industry? This is an initiative that we have been developing for several years. We want to contribute and add value to the salmon business by means of a market place used and valued by producers and purchasers. Besides, Mr Clément expects an increase in the number of companies that operate on-line with his company. "We want to trade with the major producers and purchasers of Chilean salmon. In that sense, we have made some progress but we still need to increase the number of participants," he said. For further information contact : jpero@salmonex.cl or www.salmonex.cl
