
Salmones Camanchaca reverses losses in Q3 2011
This quarter has been marked by the return of Salmones Camanchaca to the Atlantic salmon business after almost two years without any production of this species. Accumulated to September 2011, the company has produced 507 tonnes WFE and sold 203 tonnes WFE of Atlantic salmon.
Regarding to Rainbow trout, the company has produced 7,375 tonnes WFE (+ 40.5% compared to the same period of 2010) and sold 7,628 tonnes WFE (+ 85.2%) accumulated to September 2011.
Finally, Salmones Camanchaca explains that the biomass of fish in their fattening sites is growing successfully with improved mortality and feed conversion rates. Every health indicator have also achieved better results than expected. For instance, the first Atlantic salmon farming site the company harvested had an accumulated mortality rate of 2% and the company did not even needed to use antibiotics with those fish.
