Andrés Galarce, analyst of the financial consulting company and security broker dealers EuroAmerica, commented that the share price of local salmon producing companies is being affected by the United States decision of dropping a steep penalty tariff on Norwegian salmon which meant a nearly 24 percent punitive duty over Norwegian salmon products.
He added that up today the "salmon index" is the only sectorial index experiencing losses (-4.07%) in the IPSA stock market index, the financial journal Diario Financiero reports.
Meanwhile, Ignacio Spencer, analyst of IM Trust, said that "in the medium and long run this can be a very good investment, but not in a short term, given the low salmon prices seen these days".
