Salmon prices to continue decreasing in the coming years
In its Q3 2011 report, the company forecasts that prices of Coho salmon and Rainbow trout HG (4-6 PRM) are going to move between US$ 5 - 6 per Kg in 2012 and will finally remain around US$ 5 per Kg FOB Chile in 2013 and in the following 4 years. Likewise, Pescanova expects Atlantic salmon’s Trim D and Trim C (both, fresh and frozen) to remain in the range of US$ 8 - 9 per Kg FOB Chile in the next 6 years.
The company also explains that the global offer of salmon is currently higher than the salmon consumption in the world and expects this gap to be narrowed within the next 3 years.
According to this projection, salmon demand will meet the global offer somewhere between the years 2014-2015. This situation would be fostered by a higher salmon consumption in the EU, Russia and other countries. Meanwhile, consumption in Japan and the USA would remain stable.
Regarding its own results, Acuinova expects to gradually increase its production from 36,889 tonnes of finished salmon products this year to 71,515 tonnes in 2016.
