
Salmon harvests decreased 58% as of June
A comparison of results itemized by specie shows a 67.4% decrease in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 138,304 tonnes to 45,144 tonnes; a 35.3% drop in the Rainbow trout harvests down to 57,264 tonnes; and a 72.2% decrease in the Coho salmon harvests down to 13,754 tonnes.
Local roe production totalized 1,039 million units in the first half-year: 548.7 million eggs of Atlantic salmon; 142.2 million eggs of Rainbow trout; 345.8 million eggs of Coho salmon; and 2.4 million eggs of King salmon. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 70.4 million, separated in 29.8% of Atlantic salmon eggs and 70.2% of Rainbow trout eggs.
