
Salmon harvests decreased 49% as of October
A comparison of results itemized by specie shows a 53.9% decrease in the Atlantic salmon harvests from 179,672 tonnes to 82,774 tonnes; a 21.0% drop in the Rainbow trout harvests down to 96,264 tonnes; and a 51.0% decrease in the Coho salmon harvests down to 26,171 tonnes.
Regarding to local roe stocks, they totalized 89.8 million units in October 2010: 66.8% of Atlantic salmon eggs, 32.1% of Rainbow trout, and 1.1% eggs of Coho salmon eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 80.1 million as of October, separated in 37.7% of Atlantic salmon eggs and 62.3% of Rainbow trout eggs.
