Salmon exports decreased in January

Salmon exports totalized USD 174 million and represented a 17.92% decrease compared to the USD 212 million exported in the same period of the previous year causing a 2 percentage points decrease in the category of no-mining exports.

Meanwhile, Rainbow trout exports increased by 13% in January compared to the first month of 2009. Although Chile exported 500 tonnes less trout this year this fall was compensated with a 19% increase in the average price.

According to a report made by the National Customs Service, Japan was the main market for this exports with 57% and 73% of the salmon and Rainbow trout exports, respectively.
