Salmon export up 33 %

According to the Norwegian Seafood Export Council (NSEC) the high prices are the main reason behind this increase. Its still a very strong demand for Norwegian farmed salmon in the biggeste markets.

The average prices of farmed salmon peaked at 39,67 NOK/kilo in January 2011. This is 10,49 NOK/kilo above the average price level in January 2010.

EU are still the major market for Norwegian farmed salmon, but in January 2011 this market decreased by 4% compared to January 2010. Markets in Asia increased the import of Norwegian salmon by 18% in January 2011 compared to January 2010.
