Salmon companies emphasize need for worker training

INDAP, the government’s Institute for the Development of Agricultural Enterprise, hosted a seminar for private companies and worker union leaders in Chile’s southern aquaculture region, to present the new initiatives behind the National Certification System for Labour Competency, and inform the attendees on how to implement the labour training and certification tools provided by the initiative. According to Salmonoticias, Mark Buscaglia, SalmonChile representative of Region IX emphasized the importance the National Certification System, stating, ““The education and formation of our workers has been a key issue for SalmonChile and its members. Skills training and certification is a crucial step the industry must take to improve its competitive level and to take advantage of new technologies.”
