
Roe imports decrease in Chile
According to a report recently published by the National Fisheries Service (Sernapesca), Chile imported 42.82 million Rainbow trout eggs in 2102 which represent a 39.8 percent decrease compared to the 71.2 million eggs imported in the previous year.
Likewise, the country imported 35.2 million Atlantic salmon eggs in the past year, representing an 25.6 percent decrease compared to the 47.3 million eggs imported in 2011.
Regarding the supplier countries of those eggs, roe imports came from Denmark, Iceland and Australia in 2011, while just the two first of those countries have exported eggs to Chile in the past year.
