Roe imports decrease in Chile

According to a report recently published by the National Fisheries Service (Sernapesca), Chile imported 24.0 million Rainbow trout eggs in the first two months of this year which represent a 7.75 percent decrease compared to the 26.1 million eggs imported in the same period of the previous year.

Likewise, the country imported 8.5 million Atlantic salmon eggs up to February 2012, representing a 35.98 percent decrease compared to the 13.2 million eggs imported in the same months of 2011.

Regarding the supplier countries of those eggs, roe imports came from Denmark, Iceland and Australia in the first two months of 2011, while just the two first of those countries have exported eggs to Chile this year.
