Reduced use of antifouling in Camanchaca
Just like the decreased use of other chemicals, Salmones Camanchaca has reported a decreased use of antifouling products, from 19.4 lt/tonne produced LWE in 2013 to 14.3 lt/tonne produced LWE in 2014.
According to the company, their objective is to reduce the use of copper-based antifouling paints by 20% annually.
In order to achieve this goal, Camanchaca has established different strategies, such as washing nets without antifouling paints in situ and replacing nets impregnated with antifouling paints less often. In addition, the company is testing metal alloy cage nets.
