Record harvests dent salmon prices

According to figures from Akvafakta, the price of fresh farmed salmon fell by almost 4 NOK/kg in the past four weeks, due to the record levels being harvested.

During week 25 an extra 6,000 tonnes were exported, up 31.5 per cent compared to the same week in 2013. During the last four weeks the exported volume was 10.7 per cent on average higher than during the same period last year.

So far in 2014 the total exported volume is 512,366 tonnes of salmon, compared to 474,324 tonnes in the same period last year.
