Potential merger between Ventisqueros and Congelados del Pacífico
Congelados del Pacífico with US$ 36.1 million in salmon exports last year and Ventisqueros, with US$ 91.2 million in the same period, would have been negotiating a merger deal in the past months according to some sources close to the process.
This merge would be benefitial for the two firms, in order to reach a larger size and streamline the operation in the country through the resulting synergies, according to the information published by the financial journal Estrategia.
Ventisqueros expects to produce 40,000 tonnes of salmonids this year as part of the plan to double the production of the company,. Meanwhile, with over 20 aquaculture licenses in the Region of Los Lagos, Congelados del Pacífico has a growth plan to double in size from around 15,000 tonnes up to 30,000 tonnes.
Another process of consolidation that would be in place these days is that one of Acuinova, which would be negotiating the sale of assets to Marine Harvest. By contrast, the merger between Granja Marina Tornagaleones and Trusal would have been postponed.
