Pinneys of Scotland sale 'good for jobs'
Uniq has confirmed the Pinneys of Scotland site in Annan is being bought by Grimsby-based The Seafood Company. The new owners said the deal - for an undisclosed sum - was "great news" for the 515-strong workforce and the wider seafood industry in Scotland, BBC News reported.Last month Uniq declined to comment on reports that its Dumfries and Galloway plant had been put up for sale. The Pinneys of Scotland factory is one of the major employers in south west Scotland. It specialises in salmon processing. The firm supplies Marks and Spencer and also holds a royal warrant to supply smoked salmon to the Queen. The Seafood Company's managing director Pete Ward told BBC News that the south of Scotland operation was a good addition to its business. "Pinneys is a first-class operation and a superb strategic fit with our existing business.
