Piñera won the Chilean election
According to Visión Acuícola, Sebastián Piñera is extremely worried about the social and labour consequences of the salmon industry’s crisis. Talking about the unemployment that affects this sector, he said that “it not only means an economical problem regarding to how this people make ends meet it is also an attempt against the human dignity, since someone who wants to work and help his family and sees how doors are slammed in his face starts losing his dignity”.
Regarding to bureaucracy, one of the problems that allegedly affects this industry which frequently demands a specialized Under-Secretariat of Aquaculture, Piñera stated that development of a public institutionality which establishes intelligent and sustainable ground rules allowing a solid growth of the Chilean salmon industry is fundamental given the importance of this sector”.
