PHARMAQ Chile introduces new salmon vaccine
PHARMAQ AS Chile has been granted approval on behalf of the National Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Service to introduce its new vaccine, ALFA JECT TM Micro 3 to the salmon aquaculture market. It is designed to protect against three major diseases prevalent in Chile’s salmon industry - IPN, vibriosis, and SRS. According to an Aqua.cl interview with Bernd Wregg, general manager of PHARMAQ Chile, “In the development of this new vaccine, we had to develop new technologies to assure a sufficient doses of antigens to generate the level of protection desired. To do this we evaluated a series of Chilean piscirickettsia isolates and performed numerous repetitive trials in experimental conditions, and performed a field study in Norway with a hexavalent microdoses to safely assure that we could provide the protection desired with this type of vaccine. Commercial Manager Oliver Wehner of PHARMAQ states “Today as well as a few years ago, PHARMAQ is in a position to be one of the leaders in the Chilean market in the injectable vaccines. According to our estimates we have a participation of 41.9% of the market, and we’re in a position growth farther.”
