Orbit AquaCam and GMT AS are merging
GMT AS is a speciality company that provides feeding technology to the fish farming industry. The company’s headquarters is situated in Bergen, Norway, with a subsidiary in Scotland. GMT delivers complete feeding systems, including control software, for facilities that produce juvenile or adult fish. These reliable and robust feeding systems are an essential part of operations of many fish farming facilities in Norway, Scotland and the Faeroe Islands. Systems have also been delivered to aquaculture companies in Canada and Australia. GMT is one of the foremost providers of equipment that ensures the accurate dosage and spread of feed.
Orbit AquaCam AS produces CCTV monitoring systems for the aquaculture industry. In the course of the last 20 years our company has delivered more than 4500 systems. Its headquarters and production facilities are situated in Haugesund on the west coast of Norway, with an office in Tromsø in the north of Norway, and a subsidiary in Chile. The main products are robust underwater and surface video cameras for use in fish cages and pens, and for the monitoring fish farming facilities.
“Our merger is well timed strategically with regard to recent developments in the fish farming industry. Today, there is an ever-stronger focus on the environment, on efficient operation and successful integration of the various systems used,” says Bjørn M. Apeland, Managing Director of Orbit AquaCam AS. “To an increasing degree, sensors and video monitoring is being linked to feeding systems. An increasing number of fish farmers wish to be able to remote control the operations of their facilities. Our two companies are technology leaders in their respective fields, so this merger will allow us to offer more comprehensive products to the market in Norway and internationally, and significantly increase our customer portfolio.”
“Both companies have a strong focus on developing reliable, robust solutions and of providing excellent customer service. It is vital to have the same philosophy in this regard,” says Lars Egil Økland, Managing Director of GMT AS.
Orbit GMT AS will be part of the Steinsvik Group, just as Orbit AquaCam was. Steinsvik Group comprises a number of companies that develop and deliver products and solutions to the fish farming, shipping and offshore industries. Orbit GMT becomes an integral part of a strong R & D division that is characterised by self-produced components, efficient assembly and thorough testing.
