One third of all salmon in the USA comes from Chile

The Chilean salmon companies exported products to the USA worth US$ 725,13 million in the period. These figures represent a 26.96 percent increase in value and an 66.66 percent increase in volume compared to the first eleven months of 2011.

Canada was in second place, with returns of US$ 520,38 million and 86,509 tonnes. Those results represent increases of 3.84 and 21.22 percent in value and volume, respectively, compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to the trade data published by the Fisheries Statistics Division of the NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service, Norway was in third place with sales of US$ 142,14 million and 14,734 tonnes. Those numbers represent decreases of 34.71 and 18.93 percent in value and volume, respectively.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom was in fourth place, with returns of US$ 90.46 million and 13,704 tonnes. These figures represent decreases of 20.51 and 12.37 percent in value and volume, respectively, compared to the first eleven months of 2011.

The USA imports of all salmon products in the first eleven months of 2012 totalized 253,926 tonnes worth US$ 1,844 million.
