
One escape incident this autumn

According to statistics for farmed fish escapes in 2013 published on the Scottish government website, there has been one breach of containment on a Scottish salmon farm this autumn.
The incident occurred on the 10 October this year at the Scottish Salmon Company’s Druimyeon Bay site in Strathclyde. 8875 salmon (3093g size) had escaped. The cause of the incident was equipment failure, the company said.
In total, 25532 salmon have escaped in Scotland this year according to the figures from the Scottish government.
