Omega-3 plant planned for Arica
According to the company Golden Omega which will invest USD 42 million in this project, they aim to generate and export high quality products from this facility for the pharmaceutical, alimentary and nutraceutical industries.
Golden Omega also informed to the public Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA) that they plan to annually process 8,500 tonnes of fish oil in order to produce 1,000 tonnes of natural refined fish oil 18/12; 500 tonnes of triglyceride concentrates; and 1,500 tonnes of ethyl esters.
Finally, the company detailed that the whole process will be performed in fully-closed equipments minimizing exposure to the environment of raw materials, intermediate and final products in a drive to avoid contamination and degradation. Meanwhile, storage of raw material, intermediate and final products will be done in Nitrogen atmosphere to also avoid degradation.
