Novofish to open another freshwater facility
This new facility is located in Huelmo, nearby Puerto Montt and next to the coast. According to the Chilean Economic Development Agency (Corfo), this coastal condition allows the company to directly transfer 8 million smolts per year from the site into wellboats.
Among other features, this freshwater facility has a very low renewal rate of water, using around 10 m3/hr of freshwater for a production equivalent of 3,600 m3/hr.
Corfo has financed part of this facility, which will demand a workforce of around 100 people.
