
Nosedive for export values
According to figures from SalmonChile, the country exported 205,408 tonnes of salmonids in the first four months of this year, worth US$ 1,345 million FOB Chile.
58,750 tonnes of those exports went to Japan, representing an 8 per cent decrease compared to the same period of 2014. Likewise, the returns from those exports fell by 26 per cent, down to US$ 347 million.
Shipments of salmonids to the US totalled 49,344 tonnes - a similar amount compared to the same period of 2014. However, the value of these exports decreased byy 11 per cent compared to the first four months of 2014, falling to US$ 450 million.
Salmonid exports to Brazil totalled 33,547 tonnes in the first four months of this year, showing a 17 per cent increase compared to the same period of 2014. Despite this rise in volumes, the value decreased by 7 per cent compared to the same period of 2014, falling to US$ 145 million.
Finally, shipments to Russia totalled 15,361 tonnes - a 15 per cent increase compared to those volumes sent in the same period of 2014. Despite this, the value of exports to Russia fell by 12 per cent, to US$ 75 million.
