New Director at Skretting Aquaculture Research Centre

Alex Obach, originally from Barcelona, Spain, is a researcher and veterinarian with a PhD in pathology and immunology. He started working at Skretting Aquaculture Research Centre in 1993 as a researcher, and most recently held the position as Manager of ARC’s Fish Health department. Between 1993-2006 Obach also has been engaged as lecturer at the University of Barcelona, and worked for two years as the leader of Marine Harvest Technical Centre. Obach lives in Stavanger, Norway. Alex Obach succeeds Viggo Halseth, who will focus fully on his position as Managing Director for Business Group Skretting Trout & Marine Feed. Skretting Aquaculture Research Centre (ARC) is the central R&D unit for Nutreco’s global fish feed company Skretting. Skretting ARC's main objective is to provide research and technical support regarding fish feed for salmonids and marine species. ARC core competencies are within fish nutrition, feed raw materials, feed safety & quality and feed manufacturing processes. Its facilities include a research station with hatchery, land based tanks and sea cage trial facilities, a pilot plant for feed production and a well-equipped modern chemical laboratory. Based in Stavanger, Norway, Skretting ARC has 60 highly skilled employees from eight different countries, many of them with postgraduate qualifications. In addition Skretting ARC co-operates with universities and research institutions worldwide.
