New case of pathogenic ISA
The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) informed that the farming site ‘Chivato 2’ has been categorized as confirmed with an HPR different than zero (pathogenic) according to the Sanitary Programme of Surveillance and Control against ISA virus.
The affected site is located in south shore of the Melchor Island, in the channel ‘Carrera del Chivato’, in the Region of Aysén and within the neighborhood 22B.
According to Salmones Blumar, the strain HPR-8 was just found in samples obtained from one cage, stocked with about 33,700 fish of about 3kg weight and intended to be harvested in the coming week. This strain of ISA virus has not been found in other cages of the site. The farm's mortality rate has been 0.12 per cent in the past week.
The previous detection of ISA virus in Chile occured in late June 2015 was an HPR-14 strain, which was located in Los Lagos.
