New aquaculture regulation project forges ahead
According to the Senator Evelyn Matthei, the article that establishes a 25 years time-limit to concessions was also approved, among other topics, with a renewal chance of an equal 25 years period.
Regarding to the clause that establishes expiration of aquaculture concessions due to three defaults of labor obligations (committed by a company or one of its subcontractors), Senator Matthei explained that is a topic still pending, AQUA published.
Likewise, in accordance with the financial journal Estrategia, the Finance Commission modified the time scale for expiration -due to labor defaults- proposed by the Fisheries Commission, from a three-year period to three consecutive productive cycles. It also added that an expired concession might recover its condition after a ‘blameless behavior’ accredited by a Labour Direction’s report.
