
Multiexport reports reduced losses in Q4 2013 results
Christian Pérez Likewise, Salmones Multiexport registered losses of US$ -4.1 million last year compared to losses of US$ -32.1 million in 2012. According to the company, these negative results are consequence of higher costs for some supplies in the period, such as fish feed, and due to a deteriorated biological fish performance. At unitary level, the company reported an operational EBIT of US$ -0.84 per Kg WFE of Atlantic salmon last year compared to US$ -0.46 in the previous year. Meanwhile, the operational EBIT for trout was of US$ -0.95 per Kg WFE last year, compared to US$ -0.35 in 2012. Finally, Salmones Multiexport had sales of US$ 300 million in 2013, representing an 18.2 percent increase compared to the previous year. 100 percent of all Multiexport production correspond to value added products, which are mainly intended for the US (55 percent) and Asian (14 percent) markets.
