Multiexport experiences 72% improvement in EBIT/Kg

Published Modified

Christian Pérez This improvement would be related to lower abundances of sea lice and a decreased biomass of fish according to the most recent quarterly presentation of Multiexport. The company recorded an operational EBIT of US$ -4.2 million in Q3 2013, which compares favorably against the US$ -6.2 million posted by the company in the same quarter of the previous year. Meanwhile, Salmones Multiexport recorded sales of US$ 242.1 million in the first nine months of this year, representing a 31.4 percent increase compared to the same period of 2012. Finally, the company reported increased production costs in Q3 2013 (just like in previous quarters) due to higher fish feed prices and reduced biologic performance. Multiexport added that "the increasing biomass in the fattening stage is still challenging the industry at a production and sanitary level and causes longer production cycles, larger expenditures in disease control and reduced yields".
