According to the information provided by Multiexport to the Chilean Securities and Insurance Supervisor or SVS, the local salmon producing company Salmones Multiexport has signed an agreement with Mitsui & Co. to create a company oriented to farm, process and trade Coho salmon and Rainbow trout, intended to be exported to China and other Asian markets.

Within this joint venture, Multiexport will contribute with 7 freshwater licenses and 14 sea water licenses, together with those fixed assets and the biomass of fish needed to operate two farming sites.

Meanwhile, Mitsui & Co. will buy 30 percent of the new company in US$ 36 million.

This agreement is part of the plan developed by Multiexport to separate its business in three activities: production of Atlantic salmon, production of Coho salmon and Rainbow trout, and processing and trading.
