More companies interested in CM Chiloé
According to the financial journal Estrategia, a source close to the negotiations of CM Chiloé has revealed that there will be news in this regard. There would be another company interested in the local firm and this company does not belong to the salmon industry.
Ricardo Purcell, general manager of CM Chiloé, did not make any comments about this situation although he said that his company is still trying to obtain some capital increase.
Besides, he explained that the negotiation with Cermaq has failed because of a disagreement on the purchasing price. Allegedly, CM Chiloé would have asked for US$ 150 million, while Cermaq would have offered just enough to cover the liabilities of CM Chiloé (between US$ 100 million and US$ 110 million).
CM Chiloé needs an investor or new partner in the medium term since the company does not count with enough capital to operate for long without failing in the payment of debts. Therefore, the chance of entering into bankruptcy would be larger and larger every day for the Chilean firm according to the financial journal Diario Financiero.
