Minister of Economy restores the “salmon table”
The main objective of this “salmon table” is analyze problems and challenges of the Chilean salmon industry and propose potential solutions. It is leaded by the Under-secretary of Fisheries and is expected to present some conclusions by December this year.
The Minister of Economy, Pablo Longueira, explained that unlike what happens in other industries, bad practices in just a few players can affect the whole salmon industry even if most of the companies work seriously and responsibly. “We cannot experience again the damage and collapse faced some years ago,” he said.
Among other topics, this working group will analyze the institutional structure of this sector; growth and development of the industry; good production practices; and relocation of farming sites.
