Johnson buys Norwegian cats

The catamarans are designed specifically to serve farms and they are made from aluminum according to DNV standards to ensure safe working conditions in the aquaculture industry.

Called Ajax and Acorn, both are 13.5 metres long by 7.5 metres wide and are equipped with 750 horsepower distributed between two John Deere 6090 engines – which deliver a speed of 13-15 knots. Two Twin Disc 5114A gear thruster Sleipners contribute to very good manoeuverability.

The NabCat 1350s are supplied with welded ribs for increased strength and solidity, fully insulated engines for better working and decks that are easy clean and disinfect. The model also comes with life rafts for six people as standard.

Moen Marin has an additional 10 NabCat 1350s and 7 NabCat 1499 work boats in the pipeline. Most of the boats are contracted to Norwegian farming companies and service companies but it still has a number of NabCat 1350s available for delivery in March 2015 and several 1499s for July 2015.
