Fusion scoops SSF contract
The contract is part of an ongoing expansion and investment programme by Scottish Sea Farms and will provide the company with new fish pens at Kishorn and equipment for its hatchery at Knock. The additional spend comes on the back of a £1 million pound investment with Fusion for fish pens at new SSF sites in Orkney.
SSF Managing Director, Jim Gallagher, said: “This latest contract, coupled with our £1 million pound order in October, demonstrates our ongoing commitment to using Scottish suppliers. We have been working with Fusion Marine for a number of years now and this latest contract builds on this strong relationship and helps us to develop our fish farming sites for the future. We are also recruiting at many of our sites, with skilled jobs available for local areas where employment is often scarce.”
Stephen Divers, Managing Director of Fusion Marine, said: “We are delighted with this latest contract, which comes at a time when we are investing in new staff and equipment to ensure our business continues to move forward. Salmon farming plays a crucial role in helping support the rural west coast economy and also provides the platform for further opportunities for sustainable development. The secure containment of stock is our primary focus and we are currently working closely with Scottish Sea Farms on new and innovative research and development projects that will benefit both the industry and the local communities that depend upon it.”
