Only once before has Norway exported more salmon in a week

The volume of salmon exported last week was the second highest ever. The price rose – but not by much.

According to salmon sector data provider Akvafakta, the spot price of salmon rose by NOK 0.27 per kilo in week 34, up to 58.00 NOK (£4.24) per kilo.

That price is NOK 12.08/kg below the same week last year.

The average spot price so far this year is NOK 77.13/kg, compared to NOK 101.98/kg at the same time a year ago.

Exports

Norway exported 39,359 tonnes (round weight) of salmonin week 34. This is the second highest export volume for a week ever, only beaten by week 39 in 2024 with just over 40,000 tonnes.

The volume is 20.5% greater than the same week last year.

So far this year, Norway has exported 984,000 tonnes of salmon, 22% more than in the same period last year.

Feed

As of week 31, 1.2 million tonnes of feed have been sold to Norwegian fish farmers, 13% more than at the same time in 2024.

However, the trend for the last four weeks (weeks 28-31) is 7% down from the same period last year.
