Wellboat capacity increases

AQS AS is increasing the capacity of its sea lice and AGD bath treatments. “We have now tripled our capacity in relation to this time last year to meet the industry’s needs”, says CEO Ove Løfsnæs. Last year AQS entered into an agreement with Haugland Shipping and chartered the company’s two vessels. “We have three larger boats to be used for hydrogen peroxide treatments. This is a completely new type of boat in the aquaculture industry, and we have very positive experiences with AQS Odin and MS Urter,” says Løfsnæs. One of the benefits of such large ships is capacity – they can bring a large number of hydrogen peroxide containers, which is an advantage when the operation takes place far from the nearest port. They can also operate under difficult weather conditions. The new ship Fighter is particularly well suited for aquaculture, since it has a very low freeboard and large working deck. The ship, has a crew of 7-10 people who come from both Haugaland Shipping and AQS. AQS and Aquatic Concept Group now own 35 per cent each in Haugaland Shipping. The remaining 30 per cent of shares are owned mainly by Johny Jøsang and his family, who started the company in 1995.
