Unspectacular quarter for SSF

Scottish Sea Farms (SSF) expects to harvest 28,000 tonnes of salmon in the course of 2015, according to a report released today.

The publication, by Salmar, which owns 50% of the company (known as Norskott Havbruk in Norway) show that SSF’s profit/loss after tax (and fair value adjustment of the biomass) was £2.73 million.

Gross operating revenues were £35.1 million, compared with £28.3 million in the same quarter last year, while SSF harvested a total of 8,600 tonnes of fish during the quarter, 500 tonnes more than in the corresponding period the year before.

Contract sales accounted for 43 per cent of the volume in the quarter. Operating profit per kg gutted weight totalled £0.32 in the third quarter 2015, down from £0.43 per kg the previous quarter, and from £0.45 per kg in the third quarter last year.
