Prices leap past €6/kg
The price of Norwegian salmon exports averaged a whopping €6.14 per kilo in the first week of 2016 – up by 4.06% compared to the last week of 2015 – according to the latest figures released by Fish Pool.
The price rise was despite export volumes hitting 14,173 tonnes, up from 9,593 the previous week and 4,707 tonnes higher than in the first week 2015. However, Fish Pool points out, “keep in mind that week 1-2015 was New Year’s Eve week”.
Looking ahead Fish Pool predicts prices to average €6.25 during January, and well above €5 per kilo until at least the end of April.
