
Salmon prices continue to slide
The price for Norwegian salmon exports has fallen for the second week in a row, dropping to NOK 61.14/kg in week 30.
This was an average decline of NOK 6.25 compared to week 29 – equating to a drop of 9.27% – although the price was still well above the average of around NOK 45/kg seen in week 30 last year.
Fish in the 1-2kg bracket averaged NOK 43.74kg, while the top price was fetched by fish of 8-9kg, which averaged NOK 76.59.
Meanwhile the latest stats from Fish Pool reveal that 84,000 tonnes of salmon were exported from Norway in June, down 13% compared to June 2015, although the value of these exports was NOK 4.9 billion, an increase of 32%.
Furthermore, the total biomass of salmon in Norway was 566,000 tonnes, just 1% lower than in the same month last year, feed consumption was 115,000 tonnes, 24.3 million smolts were released and the sea temperature averaged 10.8°C, up by 1.2°C compared to June 2015.
