“We are extremely pleased to have recruited such an experienced business leader as Finnøy to front the company and build the company within,” said Salmon Evolution chairperson Kristofer Reiten.

In a press release, Salmon Evolution said Reiten does not hide the fact that the company is facing many and important milestones in the future, and that the recruitment of Finnøy is an important piece in the realisation of the aquaculture adventure.

Sustainable production

Finnøy sees the opportunity to create profitable food production in a new and sustainable way. “I’m really looking forward to this. I know of a sincere desire to create, build and develop the company in collaboration with a competent young team where sustainability is the focus.”

During the last six months, Salmon Evolution has built up a team with expertise in several fields, and its new office space in Molde now houses seven employees.

Salmon Evolution’s proposed NOK3 billion (£279m) facility on an island in Møre og Romsdal in north west Norway will have a maximum standing biomass of 13,300 tonnes and an annual salmon output of 28,800 tonnes.

The site is partly a quarry and undeveloped land zoned for commercial development.
