The lack of growth in salmon volumes resulted in very high prices during 2016.

Prices near NOK 80/kg

The export price of Norwegian salmon nudged closer to NOK 80/kg during the first week of the year, rising by 0.24% to reach an average of NOK 79.42 (£7.59) per kilo, according to the latest figures released by Fish Pool.

Meanwhile export volumes for the final week of 2016 fell by 5% compared to the last week of the previous year, to 14,106 tonnes.

Overall the country produced 1,531,139 tonnes of salmon in 2016 and 96,208 tonnes of trout – an increase of 1% and a decrease of 18% respectively compared to the previous year.
