According to the financial journal Estrategia, the senior management consultant of the fishing company Tecnológica de Alimentos, Humberto Speziani, said that "being part of the aquaculture business is in the group's strategic plan and Chile offers a serious opportunity through salmon farming, since their market has been continuously growing and also the demand for their products will keep increasing”.

In this sense, Speziani revealed that "we have not knocked on anyone’s door yet hence there is no definition in this regard either. Nonetheless, in no more than three months we will know if we will proceed or not and if we do, what company will be purchased and the amount involved. In fact, we are already working on it”. In any case, "before that time, specializing people in the group will present us a study that will determine the way forward. Only then, we will take that issue onto discussion at the board of directors" he stated.

Meanwhile, in relation to what type of company they might acquire, Speziani stressed that "I do not think that the group would be interested in being a small player. In turn, the possibility of growing a business can be interesting; therefore a medium or large sized company is within the acquisition possibilities". Speziani do not dismiss the idea of joining AquaChile Invertec or Multiexport, companies of Chilean capitals "which are more likely to be in our sight. I do not think that those in foreign hands want to divest themselves of a business that will start recovering from next year in the country".

He added that "the banks have given us a list of candidates, which are important players in Chile and consisting of less than half a dozen names". Finally, he said that "we can acquire any company, even if it has some financial difficulties; we have no problems about it".
