Update on the ISA situation in Chile

Christian Pérez The National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca) have not reported any new outbreaks of ISA virus in the past two weeks. The farming sites where the disease was found by the beginning of this month are being harvested ("Garrao" and "King", belonging to the salmon producing companies Los Fiordos and Multiexport, respectively). Meanwhile, the Salmon Index (which shows the share price behavior of those salmon producing companies listed in the Santiago Stock Exchange) experienced a significant decrease in the days following to the ISA outbreaks. However, this index has shown a notorious increase in the past week, probably due to the absence of new outbreaks and after some messages of calm and optimism sent to the market by the local salmon industry and Chilean authorities.
