Two sites planned for Bute

According to the local newspaper The Buteman, the company will be discussing these proposals with the islanders at two ‘information events’ this week.

The company, which already operates fish farm sites at nearby Ardyne and Loch Striven as well as numerous other locations on Scotland’s west coast, is assessing the suitability of sites at St Ninian’s Bay, off the west coast of the island, and White Port, between Kilchattan Bay and Glencallum Bay in the south-east, for possible aquaculture development, the newspaper wrote.

The Scottish Salmon Company’s managing director, Craig Anderson, told The Buteman earlier this month that the company was keen to engage with the local community and the proposals have yet to be the subject of a formal planning application.
