He created this company more than two years ago, becoming one of the first companies producing salmon in the 12th Region (Magellan). “We are recovering from the effects of ISA, we have not sell anything for about 8 months and we just started harvesting again some weeks ago,” Mr Gálmez said.

According to the financial journal Estrategia, Juan Antonio Gálmez will continue investing in the local salmon business, despite the difficult times this sector has faced in recent years. Among others investments, his company is building a new freshwater facility with a cost of around US$ 7 million in order to significantly increase their salmon production.

Salmones Magallanes expects to produce about 12,000 tonnes this year and increase that volume between 25% and 30% next year.

Finally, Mr Gálmez commented that his company will concentrate its growth in the Region of Magellan and they will not request aquaculture licenses in other regions at the moment.
