The largest seafood centre in the UK and Ireland
The new state-of-the-art centre, which comes in at 50,000sq ft, holds facilities to allow fish to be bought, prepared, and wholesaled right on the premises, and with fish stocks now being supplied from Rossaveal, Killybegs, Scotland, Holland, Greece, and Africa it officially holds the title of the largest seafood centre in Ireland and the UK.
Established on William Street in 1950, the family-run business has grown rapidly throughout the years, surpassing many of the much smaller fishmongers in the city to forge itself as a serious contender in the seafood industry throughout the Europe. Some of the shop’s best known customers include celebrity chefs Antony Worrall Thompson and Rick Stein.
“Fish is now regarded as a healthy option to eat,” says owner John Holland. “We intend to give a bigger choice and fish will no longer be seen as the traditional Friday dinner. Our staff have a wealth of experience and are willing to share their love of seafood and advise on the various choices that can be made.”
